Sandy Felt Pads

Felt pads were designed to replace the failing foam pads in microdrive cartridges. They would tend to dry out and become crumbly. After many years, they would break apart and be drawn into the microdrive case, rendering the media useless.

Using original cassette felt sheets from 3M, these were originally laser cut, then later cut with a scalpel to provide felt replacements.

The replacement would have to be carried out before the cartridge ingested its felt.
